Photorejuvenation

It erases away age and years of sun damage with one single treatment, and it's done with never having to go under the knife.

Christa Delcamp shows us about this new procedure being done at one local hospital.

Sun-worshippers beware: extended exposure can lead to premature aging.

It's something Marcia Hodson of East Wakefield, New Hampshire knows all about.

"My college and high school years I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor and was in the sun all the time, using baby oil and iodine to get tan."

All that exposure caught up with her.

"I looked in the mirror, really looked, and thought that can't be me."

Marcia thought she looked too old for her age and wanted a change.

I just wanted something that would soften the look and maybe take off five years."

But she didn't want to go under the knife! So Marcia opted for a new laser treatement at Mass General Hospital called photorejuvenation.

Dr. Sandy Tsao, Dermatologist-MGH
"Photrejuvenation is the process by where your trying to impriove what nature has taken away."

Photorejuvenation uses a low impulse laser that glides over the skin to erase wrinkles and fine lines .

"This is a win win situation, little down time, very advantageous and end point is market reduction of the lines, wrinkles and pigmentation in a very effective way."

The treatment is practically painless, and is done as an outpatient procedure with no anesthesia. But it will set you back!

For a full face treatment it ranges from 4-5 thousand dollars. For a partial treatment, it runs about 1500, and the treatment is not covered by insurance. Doctor Sandy Tsao, who performed Marcia's photorejuvenation treatment, says her patients love the results.

"Depending on depth of wrinkles, you can either undergo a single treatment or two spaced 3-6 months apart, but the benefits last between 4-5 years."

Marcia says its well worth it !
