Overweight and obesity are primary risk factors for many chronic health conditions, including hypertension, high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder dysfunction, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and respiratory problems. |
Brigham and Women's Hospital: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) ScreeningHall B Booth 901COPD is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe, mainly caused by cigarette smoking. COPD causes coughing that produces large amounts of mucus, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and other symptoms. Two types of lung functioning tests, spirometry and pulse oximetry, will be available in the exhibit to help determine your risks. |
Brigham and Women's Hospital: Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)Hall B Booth 901 (Saturday only)Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) occurs when plaque builds up in the arteries that carry blood to your head, organs, and limbs. If you have PAD, your risk for coronary artery disease, heart attack, and stroke is greater. A simple test called an ankle-brachial index (ABI) will be used to compare blood pressure in your ankle to blood pressure in your arm. This test shows how well blood is flowing in your limbs. |
